The
Passenger List for Voyage 16 of the Matson Liner S.S. Mariposa
which sailed from Los Angeles on 27 June 1934 bound for Sydney. Included
amongst the first class passengers were Sir Charles Kingsford Smith and
Lady Kingsford Smith (page 4). Also appearing (page 3) is Captain Fred
W. Haig, Vacuum Oil's first Aviation Manager in Australia and a friend
of Smithy. Another passenger of distinction that is not on the list is
Smithy's Lockheed Altair which occupied the Mariposa's tennis court
for the trans-Pacific voyage.  Source:
