Smithy on the deck of the S.S. Monterey in Los Angeles Harbor on 10 August 1935. Smithy had arrived to collect the Lady Southern Cross which had been left in the care of Lockheed at the Union Air Terminal at Burbank since the trans-Pacific flight in November 1934.
