COMPILER'S NOTESNote please: A name may occur placing a crewmember on this type in a category that IS NOT CORRECT. An assumption has been made of his status for his 'Date of Joining'… his likely career progression via the types operated… and my vague memories of the time. Some may be incorrectly credited with Command, or retained as F/O, on this type when in fact they had moved on to the B747 / HS125 / DC-4, following the introduction of the B747 in late 1971. The B707 continued in diminishing operation until the last service on 25th March 1979, but it was a period of stability during those intervening years. (Capt. H. D. Long. Compiler) SOURCES

Any additions or corrections will be most welcome and these should be forwarded to the Webmaster. Please be sure to include the aircraft type and operator as the Webmaster maintains several of these crew lists. Obviously, it has not been possible to seek the approval of every person on this list, so in the unlikely event that any person does not wish to be included in such distinguished company, that person's wishes will be respected. Please advise the Webmaster. |

It was with some trepidation that I "demoted" a Captain to the F/O list (see Issue 21) and indeed my fears have been realised. Paul Moxham has rung to advise in the nicest possible way that he did have a command on the 707. Paul was on the second 747 course as an F/O but the prevailing seniority system determined that he needed to go back to the 707 for his command. Thus his initial jet command was on the 707. Subsequently he returned to the 747 on which he retired as a Senior Check Captain. Accordingly, Paul has been reinstated on the Captains list. |

Jennings known name changed from Bill to Tony. Johnson known name changed from Johnny to Johnno. La Delle spelling of known name changed from Mark to Marc (for Marcus). Macrae spelling of surname corrected from Macrea to Macrae. Parsons first name changed from Greg to Gary. Rawlinson J.R. deleted as a dupe of Rawlinson J.B. Rees A.W. added. Andy Allaries has contributed a first name for F/O John Tongue. Andy also suggested that Mike Hanrahan and Dick Woodrow went directly from F/O on the 707 to Capt on the 747. This has been confirmed by Mike Hanrahan and Dick Woodrow and the lists adjusted accordingly. Further clarification from Dick Woodrow on 06APR08: "Mike Hanrahan and I did not go from F/O 707 to Capt. 747 but bid for the 747 when all promotional training was stopped. In my case I spent about 2.5 years as F/O on the 747 before starting command training on the 747. Mike and I were the first to gain command on the 747 without having a prior command on the 707." |
